All about safety

Here at FREDS SWIM ACADEMY Australia, safety is paramount. Drowning is a leading cause of death for infants in Australia and we put your baby's safety at the heart of everything we do.

We are an Australian family business and ship all SWIMTRAINERS from within Australia. As such, we are legally bound to comply with Australian safety standards. Our SWIMTRAINERS are independently tested by the world's leading international certification service (TUV SUD) to ensure they comply with Australian safety standards. As we are sold in over 50 countries around the world, the SWIMTRAINER also conforms to US and European safety standards, giving you extra peace of mind.

Do you know swim rings shipped to Australia from overseas are not required by law to comply with Australian safety standards? Don't take any chances with your baby's safety - beware of our competitors who ship items into Australia from overseas to avoid Australia's stringent safety regulations! If you are purchasing an item and it is shipped from overseas it is your responsibility to check whether it is safe - ask for an independent certification from TUV SUD to prove compliance with Australian safety standards. If you can't find anyone shipping at item from within Australia, it's probably for a reason: the item may not be safe according to Australian standards!

The SWIMTRAINER is a flotation aid that designed specifically for swimming practice. Baby is placed low in the water to allow practice of swimming strokes. They are designed for use within arms reach of a carer who is encouraging their baby on their mastery of swimming. This aid is not suitable for inattentive parents, instead, carers should be within arms reach at all times and enjoying seeing their baby develop a life long love of water.

When baby is placed in the right position (chin over the froggy logo with arms in the water) the SWIMTRAINER is incredibly stable. However, it might take a few attempts for you and baby to get used to lying horizontally in the water in the correct position. Encourage baby by holding toys under the water in front of them, while they get used to it. Having their face so close to water can be scary for baby at first, and this can cause them to wriggle into an (unstable) sitting position. Lots of encouragement and praise and close attention from a carer is required while baby gets used to lying in the correct swimming position.

We believe that learning to swim should be fun, safe and enjoyable for you and your baby. Babies learn best through play and early introduction to the water in a joyful and unstructured way is the most important gift you can give your baby for learning to swim.
